Final Head Count Needed!

Hey all,

Well we’re in to the final two weeks and thanks for those of you who’ve gotten back to me with their thoughts. I’ve got the rough outline of activities below, but please drop me a quick response so I can make final reservations at the course and vehicles. (I’m not doing this on the website as I’d like visibility to who responds):

Chalk me up as:
IN OUT
Golf:
BBQ:
Van/Bars:

Schedule of events: September 20th.
12:00 noon – Golf at Sundance (15240 113th Ave N, Osseo, MN 55369) - $48 per person, paid to the course
Details: I have 10 spots reserved, for a tee off time at noon. Price includes cart and I’ve had 9 respond they’re “in” via the website.

5:00-ish (or immediately following Golf) – Ken Rohlfs (18942 – 96th Place, Maple Grove, MN 55311, across from Mama Gs) – $15 per person, paid to Ken
Details: Relax, have a few beers, and hang out.

8:00-ish – Van picks us up for “Pub Golf” – Pick up at Ken’s and drop us off at the same spot - $25 per person.
Details: Yes this is a bit of a change. Over the past two months we’ve found out two things: A) Party buses are expensive, and B) we won’t nearly have the numbers to support it. So, Dustin and I have come up with this less expensive, more fun plan. The game is Pub Golf: we jump in a van, bar hop treating each “bar” as a “hole”, and hopefully have some fun in-between. Should be good times.

So that’s it. As always, drop me an e-mail with questions and I’ll see you all at noon next Saturday!

Hey Homies,

Today's the day! If you haven't put word in yet at www.stengerinkeywest.blogspot.com regarding when you'll be able to join us on 9/20, please do so now!

I see about 9 of us have responded to date, which means 16 of us haven't, and the activities planned all require reservations of some kind.

I'm not too concerned about the BBQ or golf, those can be pretty easily adjusted for numbers, but especially the party bus to MPLS ... four of us can't shoulder the cost and more folks need to jump on board to make it a go. Otherwise we'll have to plan on something else.

The questionnaire will stay active for a few more days, but please take the time today to enter your responses. Even if you won't be able to make it (due to either Kari Walsh or Osama bin Laden) the opportunity is there to respond as well.

Peace out,
Corey

Happy Birthday Stenger!

For those of you who will come within close proximity to Dustin today, be sure to give him a shot in the arm for me. I’m sure I’ll be beaten to the punch on buying you a beer tonight, so I’ll have to capitalize on my opportunity next month.

Hi guys,

Sorry for taking quite a while in posting new news. Most everyone had voted for a fall timeframe, so I opted to complete some other duties.

In actuality, with the help of a few of you, some work has been done and a roughed out schedule of events has come together.

The date of our gathering will be September 20th, the Saturday three weeks before many of us will travel down to Key West. Hopefully today is enough advanced warning for everyone to block off the date.

As for events, here’s what we’re proposing:

- Golf – at Sundance - 11 am-ish tee - $48 per person (self-paid)
- BBQ – at Kennys – 5 pm-ish - $15 per person (paid to Corey)
- Party Bus (pick/up drop off downtown) – 8 pm-ish to 2 am-ish - $25 per person (paid to Corey)

Amounts and times at this point are estimates. They will vary with how many people we’ll have and our final package, so they’re for reference only. Additionally, notice that these amounts don’t cover drinks downtown, or other entertainment options, so bare that in mind.

At this point, I need to get a better fix for our numbers so I can make accurate preparations and reservations. I’d like to treat this as ala carte; select those activities you’re in for and we’ll get the day set up. Please reply by August 30th so we can get everything arranged.

Poll Update

Hey again all,

Well gents, I never fail to be amazed. Over the course of two weeks, this elite group of 20-30-something young men have endeavored to post four, count 'em, four responses to the poll for Stenger's gathering.

Let me guess - Kenny, Jimmy, Joe, and ... taking a stab here ... Scott Marks? He seems to be one on the ball!

For the rest of you, the poll will remain active until June 30, that is you have about one week to have your opinions heard until we begin the endless barginning and persuading to pull this fiesta together.

So let your voice be heard, like the guy to the right here:

e-mail me questions ... let me know if you're out there and interested. The site again is at: http://www.stengerinkeywest.blogspot.com/.

Cheers,
Your cruise director

Event Invite

Hey Boys,

As you’re probably aware, another one of our male-comrades will shortly be turning over to the darkside. While we all should be wishing Dustin and Stacy the best, we’re probably more inclined to quote Vince Vaughn in Old School … “Real smart. Way to think it through.”

In order to ensure that we, as guys, have the opportunity to tell Dustin exactly how we feel, I’m attempting to organize a gentlemen’s get-together, an event of revelry if you will. Ideally the event should feature the smartest and wisest male minds in Dustin’s life, those who might help give advice on this interesting, bewildering, and sometimes confounding thing we call matrimony and remind him of all he’s giving up. But, as those minds were all unavailable, you all will have to do.

Now, for those who don’t know me personally, this poses a bit of a challenge for yours truly as I live in Oregon. I know what you’re thinking and yes, this is by choice. I also know what your second question will be and yes, all hippie jokes aside, it does hurt to see my vote thrown away every general election. That being said, I’m attempting to organize from afar, so please bare with me, I’d appreciate some local help to make some calls if necessary, and I’d like to nail down a weekend early so I don’t get so raked over the coals by North-South-West, Delta-Pan-American, Amalgamated-Airlines. (It’s a Pro-consumer merger? --- Right! What choice do I have, after all?)

Anyways, I’m hoping this communication kicks off a conversation to hone in on the group’s thoughts and goals for getting together and giving Dustin a proper send off. Most simply, take a look at the considerations I have brainstormed below, and throw your other ideas out if you’ve seen what works well for these events in the past. Obviously, some activities are more amenable to small groups (cabin in North woods, Las Vegas) while others are geared towards large ones (golf scramble, then hotel downtown). I’m hoping to have a rough plan hashed out by the end of June so we can fine tune, get our guest list together, get membership dues for the night assessed, and get some calls made to some vendors. So let the ideas fly.

Even better to get into the on-going planning conversation, I’ve started a blog at http://www.stengerinkeywest.blogspot.com/ to share ideas. There you'll see a poll of questions, on the right, to help get an idea of what we collectively want to see in a gathering. I know this isn’t everyone’s preferred way of communicating, but it’s pretty efficient and open, so I thought I’d give it a go.

And by all means, the most important aspect of all, for those of you who no longer have that freedom to do what you like with your spare time, please run the approval slip linked here by your boss (i.e., wife/fiancĂ©/girlfriend) for advanced permission for this event. The planners for said event take no responsibility for incomplete forms and/or domestic “talkings to” post-gathering!
