Poll Update

Hey again all,

Well gents, I never fail to be amazed. Over the course of two weeks, this elite group of 20-30-something young men have endeavored to post four, count 'em, four responses to the poll for Stenger's gathering.

Let me guess - Kenny, Jimmy, Joe, and ... taking a stab here ... Scott Marks? He seems to be one on the ball!

For the rest of you, the poll will remain active until June 30, that is you have about one week to have your opinions heard until we begin the endless barginning and persuading to pull this fiesta together.

So let your voice be heard, like the guy to the right here:

e-mail me questions ... let me know if you're out there and interested. The site again is at: http://www.stengerinkeywest.blogspot.com/.

Cheers,
Your cruise director

Event Invite

Hey Boys,

As you’re probably aware, another one of our male-comrades will shortly be turning over to the darkside. While we all should be wishing Dustin and Stacy the best, we’re probably more inclined to quote Vince Vaughn in Old School … “Real smart. Way to think it through.”

In order to ensure that we, as guys, have the opportunity to tell Dustin exactly how we feel, I’m attempting to organize a gentlemen’s get-together, an event of revelry if you will. Ideally the event should feature the smartest and wisest male minds in Dustin’s life, those who might help give advice on this interesting, bewildering, and sometimes confounding thing we call matrimony and remind him of all he’s giving up. But, as those minds were all unavailable, you all will have to do.

Now, for those who don’t know me personally, this poses a bit of a challenge for yours truly as I live in Oregon. I know what you’re thinking and yes, this is by choice. I also know what your second question will be and yes, all hippie jokes aside, it does hurt to see my vote thrown away every general election. That being said, I’m attempting to organize from afar, so please bare with me, I’d appreciate some local help to make some calls if necessary, and I’d like to nail down a weekend early so I don’t get so raked over the coals by North-South-West, Delta-Pan-American, Amalgamated-Airlines. (It’s a Pro-consumer merger? --- Right! What choice do I have, after all?)

Anyways, I’m hoping this communication kicks off a conversation to hone in on the group’s thoughts and goals for getting together and giving Dustin a proper send off. Most simply, take a look at the considerations I have brainstormed below, and throw your other ideas out if you’ve seen what works well for these events in the past. Obviously, some activities are more amenable to small groups (cabin in North woods, Las Vegas) while others are geared towards large ones (golf scramble, then hotel downtown). I’m hoping to have a rough plan hashed out by the end of June so we can fine tune, get our guest list together, get membership dues for the night assessed, and get some calls made to some vendors. So let the ideas fly.

Even better to get into the on-going planning conversation, I’ve started a blog at http://www.stengerinkeywest.blogspot.com/ to share ideas. There you'll see a poll of questions, on the right, to help get an idea of what we collectively want to see in a gathering. I know this isn’t everyone’s preferred way of communicating, but it’s pretty efficient and open, so I thought I’d give it a go.

And by all means, the most important aspect of all, for those of you who no longer have that freedom to do what you like with your spare time, please run the approval slip linked here by your boss (i.e., wife/fiancĂ©/girlfriend) for advanced permission for this event. The planners for said event take no responsibility for incomplete forms and/or domestic “talkings to” post-gathering!
